What affects the cost of a tune-up
There is no single tune-up price, because a tune-up is not a single job. What it costs on your car comes down to a few things:
- How many cylinders, and how accessible the plugs are. Four plugs in a line is a different job from a V6 where half of them sit under the intake manifold
- Which plugs your engine specifies. Iridium and platinum plugs cost more than copper and last far longer
- What else is due. If the filters and fluids are also at their interval, doing them together saves labour
- What we find. A failing coil or a cracked hose found during the service is a separate conversation, and we will have it with you before doing anything

Why can you not give me a price over the phone?
We often can, once we know the year, make and model — that is usually enough to know which plugs it takes and how much labour is involved. What we will not do is quote a number for “a tune-up” without knowing the car, because it would be wrong for most of them.
Is a cheaper tune-up elsewhere the same work?
Ask what is included. The word covers everything from replacing four spark plugs to a full inspection with filters, fluids and a diagnostic scan. Compare the list, not the headline.
